Designing the Theater Stage at WestEdge Design Fair: A Career Highlight
This month, I had the incredible opportunity to design the theater stage at the WestEdge Design Fair. I was handpicked by Josh Cooperman of Convo X Design, who co-sponsored the event. I was nervous and excited but couldn't pass up the thrilling challenge. This experience has indeed become a highlight of my interior design career. One of the most memorable aspects of this project was collaborating with FlavorPaper to create a custom backdrop featuring one of Sherwin-Williams' Capsule Colors of the Year. To say I was thrilled with the outcome is an understatement. After saying yes, the first thing I did was start working on the concept for the stage. Pacific Sales and Convo X Design (Josh’s amazing podcast) co-sponsored the theater stage, which would host nine-panel discussions throughout the show. I wanted to create a comfortable and pretty environment for people to have thoughtful conversations and share their ideas, much like a person’s living room would be in their home.
I started this project like all furnishing projects, selecting a statement piece and building the design around it. In this case, I knew I wanted to use wallpaper since I had a large wall as the backdrop that would feature several logos of the product partners, including my own. I started looking through the list of vendors and came across FlavorPaper. I had heard of them but hadn’t done a ton of research on their product. Pretty much immediately, I came across their collection called Petite Camillias. It was said to be inspired by one of my all-time favorite designers - Dorthy Draper. As I looked through the colorways, I found one called Brickhouse - anyone who knows me will understand why this felt like fate—it's named after my favorite song! It got even better when I met with FlavorPaper, who told me that we could customize the wallpaper ground color with one of Sherwin-Williams Colors of the Year that had just been announced. The beautifully designed floral wallpaper and a carefully selected Sherwin-Williams color created a standout look that genuinely represented my design aesthetic.
Once the wallpaper was selected, I moved on to the furnishings. I needed enough seating for 4 - 6 people and wanted it to resemble a living room. I decided to work with Dovetail, a local wholesale furniture company in Los Angeles. Their laid-back California aesthetic is more contemporary than my traditional style; however, their Cristobal sofa with beautifully rolled arms in a gorgeous olive green color felt timeless and would look amazing with the floral paper. I paired it with two of their Mierra occasional chairs made of wood and rattan, brass and marble coffee and side tables, and two beautiful green glass table lamps. All of these are centered on the beautiful rug by Amara Rugs.
As I continue to revel over my WestEdge experience, an aspect everyone can bring into their home is inspiration from the Sherwin-Williams 2025 Color Capsule of the Year. I fell in love with the color palette so much that I wanted to highlight my top three picks from this collection and offer suggestions on how to incorporate them into your home.

Raincloud: A Subtle Luxury
Raincloud is a sophisticated, deep blue-gray that exudes understated luxury, making it the perfect choice for an accent wall or feature area in your home. If you're ready to add some color without straying too far from neutrals, Raincloud offers the ideal balance.
JKB Home Design Tip:
Accent Wall: This color is perfect for creating a living room or bedroom statement wall. Pair it with lighter shades like creamy whites or soft grays for a sophisticated contrast.
Dining Room Drama: Use Raincloud to paint the entire dining room for an intimate, moody atmosphere. It pairs beautifully with dark wood furniture and gold accents, adding elegance to your gatherings.
Home Office Chic: Raincloud’s soothing hue can help create a productive yet serene environment in your workspace, infusing a sense of calm and focus.

Clove: Rich and Refined
Clove is a deep, rich brown with warm undertones that adds depth and sophistication to any space. This versatile shade can instantly elevate a room, making it feel more intimate and luxurious.
JKB Home Design Tip:
Living Room Cozy: Use Clove on the walls of your living room to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. It pairs well with natural textures like leather, wood, and rattan, giving the space a cozy, lived-in feel.
Statement Ceiling: For a bold design move, consider painting your ceiling Clove. This unexpected choice draws the eye upward and adds a unique twist to the room, especially when paired with lighter, neutral walls.
Entryway: Use Clove in your entryway or foyer to make a striking first impression. From the start, the deep hue sets the tone for a sophisticated, welcoming home.

Chartreuse: A Vibrant Splash of Color
For those who love a pop of vibrant color, Chartreuse is the ultimate choice. This lively blend of green and yellow brings energy and playfulness to any space, making it perfect for adding a touch of whimsy and fun.
JKB Home Design Tip:
Kitchen Island Pop: Paint your kitchen island in Chartreuse for a bold, unexpected splash of color. It adds lively contrast against neutral cabinetry, making your kitchen feel fresh and modern.
Accent Decor: If painting an entire wall feels like too much, incorporate Chartreuse through decor pieces like throw pillows, vases, or artwork. It’s an excellent way to add brightness without overwhelming the space.
Powder Room Perfection: For a dramatic yet playful touch, try using Chartreuse in a small space like a powder room. The bright, cheerful color makes a big impact in a confined area, leaving a lasting impression on guests.
